by Rebekah:
I grew up in New Jersey, but never acquired the Sopranos accent. I am the second youngest in a family that falls somewhere in size between The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family. Only we've got a few divorces, eating disorders, and downward spirals. So I guess we're more like a Where Are They Now special of either show.
Anyway, much of what I write about is inspired by my family, directly and indirectly, good and bad. They are my biggest fans, my toughest critics, and my most dependable supporters. And they are the inspiration for the most dysfunctional characters in my stories; their most depraved moments become some of my best stuff- like David Hasselhoff's daughter with her video camera! That's me with MS Word.
From school-age diaries to daily email epistles to manuscripts, writing has always been a hobby, a time-passer, a way to document moments I never wanted to forget (such as what song Mike Haren and I slow-danced to during the Halloween Dance of '89 (18 and Life by Skid Row)).
A few years ago, after leaving the corporate world to stay home with my two kids, I thought I could do more with my writing than finish an occasional manuscript and amass a pile of rejection letters. Then I discovered the Florida Writers Association, and through it, the Rogues Gallery Writers. Since joining both groups, I've become both more serious and more realistic about my writing.
Don't get me wrong; I still want my writing to resonate with millions. But for now I'm having a great time entertaining people with my blog and earning the occasional publishing credit. I've also won some contests, have a piece in the short story anthology From Our Family To Yours (Peppertree Press), and have another short story collaboration coming out this Spring (Writing Is Easy, featuring fellow Rogues Gallery Writers).
So now I spend my time writing, editing, and chasing my children around until they drop from exhaustion, and then sneaking off to blog about them. It's helped me build up fodder for my upcoming book, Motherhood Is Easy... As Long As You Have Nothing Else To Do For The Next 50 Years (ClearView Press, Inc.).

Rebekah Hunter Scott is a writer taking a break from sanity to raise her two-year-old son and 13-month-old daughter. Now they are fodder for her blog and in about twelve years will likely hate her guts for exploiting and embarrassing the crap out of them. She lives with her husband, Jeff, and her two children, Elsa and Rollie, in Florida.
