The ClearView Press, Inc. Philosophy

ClearView Press, Inc. is a cooperative publisher. A co-op publisher is one where the author and publisher work together to produce an end product in the most economical manner possible. ClearView Press, Inc. believes that an author should be confident enough in his or her ability to write and market their material to commit financially to their book up front. In this ever-changing publishing market, this approach is the most agile way in which to produce a quality product in a timely manner.

There are many facets to publishing, marketing and promoting a book. Much of the marketing and promoting is on the writer's shoulders. But by working together, the author and co-op publisher can give their book its best possible start into the wholesale and retail market.

Books published by ClearView Press, Inc. will have gone through an extensive review process that requires strict adherence to company guidelines set forth to guarantee a quality finished product. We at ClearView Press, Inc. desire to be intimately involved in each book published. We also desire for each book to attain a high standard of professional presentation.

Quality books and author-friendly publishing make up the foundation upon which ClearView Press, Inc. is committed to building its reputation. We look forward to meeting each prospective author as a teammate. Please check our Submission Guidelines Page for information on how to present your manuscript.

The ClearView Press, Inc. Strategy

In developing the business strategy behind ClearView Press, Inc., we decided our objective- in addition to producing the best possible product- was to make the process rewarding for the author. After all, it's the author who produces the product, through long hours of hard and dedicated labor. While we need to price our services accordingly to remain in business (and be able to help you publish more of your work), we also strongly believe recent advances in technology allow publishers both large and small to allow their authors to share in the rewards of publication, with larger royalties, sooner rather than later.

A well-written manuscript will find a market. As part of the publication process, identifying that market and determining marketing and promotion strategies helps both ClearView Press and the manuscript's author target potential customers. Pricing the final product- the published book- at what the market will bear will usually result in a recovery of all initial funds spent during the publication process, for both ClearView Press and the author. Proceeds that result from continued book sales and are split evenly between publisher and author. These royalties are significantly larger than what traditional publishers pay.

Author's Responsibilities

While ClearView Press, Inc. will make every effort it is able to market and promote its products, the primary brunt of these responsibilities falls on the author's shoulders. This helps ensure the author delivers a final manuscript he or she believes in, is willing to go that extra mile for. With both publisher and author committed to the final product- the publisher producing the physical product and making it available through a variety of online retailers (including this web site), the author working hard to 'get the word out'- we believe success will prove easier to achieve. Even with established publishing houses success is not always guaranteed. By including the author in nearly every aspect of the publication process, we feel this provides the author a well-rounded experience with which he or she will use to carry through on the next phase of their book's life.

In accepting a manuscript for publication, ClearView Press, Inc. requires as part of the process the identification, by the author, of a targeted market audience. The author should deliver a final manuscript with confidence along with a mindset to push sales of the book.  While ClearView Press Inc. is committed to producing the book and making it available through big-hitting retailers like www.barnesandnoble.com, www.booksamillion.com and www.amazon.com, the author should work hard to ‘get the word out’.   We believe success follows teamwork.

Unlike traditional presses, ClearView Press Inc. includes the author in much of the publishing process which lends the author a more well-rounded experience with book publishing.  This knowledge becomes very useful to an author with subsequent books.

One requirement an author must meet for publication with ClearView Press Inc. is the identification of a targeted niche market and a detailed plan to reach this market.  Promotional strategies that build and strengthen a book marketing plan can include much of the following:

  • Online social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc)
  • book signings
  • readings
  • media (radio, tv, magazines, newspapers, etc.)
  • professional gatherings
  • book reviewers

Bookstores, libraries, schools and businesses usually welcome authors for speeches, presentations, signings and readings. Additionally, an excellent resource book is John Kremer’s 1001 Ways to Market Your Book.  Online research for book marketing is also of great value.
